We All Need Love!

happy group of kids

In the 1960’s there was a song written by Hal David and Burt Bacharach titled, “What the World Needs Now is Love.” Dionne Warwick brought the song to life with her beautiful voice. I loved the song when it first came out (I was a college student), and still love it today (as a mature woman). It feels like the song is very appropriate for today, with the multitude of challenges we all face.

Here are the words to the song followed by a link to hear the music. Feel free to sing out loud as you listen. The words continue to ring true and the music still lifts the spirit.

What the world needs now is love, sweet love
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
No not just for some, but for everyone
Lord, we don’t need another mountain
There are mountains and hillsides enough to climb
There are oceans and rivers enough to cross
Enough to last ’til the end of time
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
It’s the only thing that there’s just too little of
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
No, not just for some, but for everyone
Lord, we don’t need another meadow
There are cornfields and wheatfields enough to grow
There are sunbeams and moonbeams enough to shine
Oh listen, Lord, if you want to know
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
It’s the only thing that there’s just too little of
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
No, not just for some, oh, but just for every, every, everyone.

Whether a young child or a senior citizen – we all need love. As a leader, how do you ensure that love is alive and present in your workplace? It really does make a huge difference. And, honestly – how wonderful to hear “I love you,” actually being said in a caring, professional, and uplifting way.
